Sydney, Australia – 10 February 2022
HH Catamarans makes its Australian boat show debut at Sanctuary Cove with the stunning new HH50 catamaran ‘Synergy’, built entirely from epoxy resin-infused carbon fibre and designed as a highly efficient performance cruising catamaran for ocean sailing.
Designed by world-renowned Morrelli & Melvin, the HH50 was named ‘Boat of the Year’ by Cruising World Magazine USA in 2021. The design features the highest level of lightweight construction and engineering combined with a refined quality interior finish rarely seen in the marine industry and subsequently has few true rivals.
The boat offers generous living spaces with a large indoor/outdoor dining arrangement, large U-shaped galley, and luxurious cabins with vast amounts of headroom and natural light. The sailing ability of this catamaran is incredible, with a Marstrom carbon rig paired with a carbon one-piece longeron and forward beam, coupled with 3Di North Sails for maximum performance. Pre-preg carbon C-shaped daggerboards help provide lift and pointing ability, enabling the boat to sail in all conditions efficiently.
‘Synergy’ has further developed the HH50 concept a step further, designed and built for a Queensland based Architect who’s own design input was incorporated with enhancements throughout that are pleasing on the eye.
The HH50 comes in two versions including the Sports Cruiser (SC) such as Synergy, which is all carbon with daggerboards, for those wanting uncompromised performance, while the Ocean Cruiser (OC) version offers a more affordable package built with a combination of e-glass and carbon, mini keels and an alloy rig. Both models are available with the company’s innovative hybrid electric/diesel ‘EcoDrive’ using a large solar and lithium package to provide hours of electric powered motoring.
HH Catamarans is the producer of some of the finest catamarans in the world, and is lead by CEO Paul Hakes, a highly respected New Zealand boat builder with a history building high end racing yachts from America’s Cup to ocean racing cat Playstation
Formed in 2012 when Hakes joined forces with Hudson Yachts, the brand’s most impressive designs include a range from 44 feet to 88 feet, including the HH66, a super high performance all carbon fibre build that went onto win the SAIL Magazine’s Boat of the Year and Best Multihull of the Year in 2018. HH enjoys state of the art factory facilities based in Xiamen China and in Cebu, Philippines.
The Australian launch comes as HH enjoys incredible success of its new HH44 and HH52 models, with nine boats on order from Australian and New Zealand customers via distributors Multihull Central. The HH50 will be presented and launched by Australian / New Zealand distributors Multihull Central who specialise in performance catamarans. Inspections will be available by appointment with registrations opening soon.
