Each October Multihull Central hosts a Seawind owners regatta on Pittwater, just north of Sydney Harbour. This year’s regatta came together in the last minute just as covid restrictions lifted a little in Australia allowing for group events. What followed was two days of close racing between 14 catamarans and fantastic parties both on and off the water in good fun and good humour. The event has been running for more than 20 years now and is a great opportunity to test and practice sailing skills, meet other boat owners and enjoy the beauty of Pittwater and Broken bay, which is about a day sail from Sydney. This year, the boat’s met at the Basin on Friday afternoon with the first race a shorter course to warm up and test the race committee’s handicaps. Seawind 1250 Rennaissance took line honours. Following racing…

The Seawind Pittwater Regatta served up a weekend of fun-filled activities and diverse experiences, making it one of the most enjoyable weekends in the regattas history that has spanned over 21 years. Hosted by Seawind distributors Multihull Central on the 25th and 26th of October, the fleet of Seawind owners and their crew members enjoyed a weekend of competitive but fun racing that had extreme conditions, ranging from 4 knots to 40 knots thanks to a strong westerly wind the hit during the day. This gave the fleet an opportunity to test both their light wind sailing skills and tactics, through to heavy weather reefing prior to the third race eventually being cancelled. Guests who joined the regatta were super impressive with how the Seawinds handled the varied conditions. But the weekend certainly wasn’t all about racing, with time in between for a raft…

By Brent Vaughan 20 years ago almost to the day, a bunch of Seawind owners got together to test their sailing prowess and race their cruising catamarans around the iconic Pittwater, just north of Sydney Harbour. Gathering at the Basin camping ground afterwards, tails were told over beers and a bbq and friendships were born. The concept caught on and the Seawind Pittwater Regatta became an institution growing to become one of the largest multihull regattas in Australia and one of the largest brand gatherings of its kind in the world with around 35 Seawind racing in its peak. After a hiatus from Pittwater for several years, it was considered fitting that we would return to this spectacular cruising location once again and retrace the old racing program established two decades ago to see why this was so special. So following many months of…
