AVAILABLE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Sydney, Australia – 17 February 2025 This week 20 multihulls entered the 2025 Sydney Multihull Regatta, involving three races up the length of beautiful Sydney Harbour with lunchtime raft ups and onshore dinners in between and plenty of socialising. Supported by Seawind Catamarans and Corsair Trimarans, the regatta was hosted by Multihull Central and the Multihull Cruising Yacht Club from their marina base in Rozelle Bay. The fleet had a full range of conditions, starting with a 25 knot north easterly on Thursday afternoon to blow out the cobwebs. Most boats had a reef in and flew around the course in record time with the fastest elapsed time by the Corsair 880, but first on corrected time going to Seawind 1000 Mintaka. It’s certainly been a different winter on Sydney Harbour than usual, while there’s been plenty of sunshine, the breeze has not been so forthcoming. Normally winter consists of light sou-easters and the occasional fresh westerly, this time we’ve had gloriously sunny days with westerlies around five knots or lower, week after week, with a number of races abandoned as a result.
