From the 24th-27th of May Multihull Central featured a record breaking multihull display at the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show on the Gold Coast. The massive display featured 6 boats, three power and three sail and was manned by over 20 staff. It was a exciting 4 days with over 1800 people having the chance to walk on board and experience each boat for themselves.
For the first time in Australia all three Aquila models were on display. The Aquila 36, debuting the fishing version and recent winner of the prestigious Multihull of the year award, the always popular Aquila 44 and for the first time in Australia the spectacular Aquila 48. The increasing popularity of Aquila powercats throughout Australia and the world was evident with the number of people who visited the stand often more than once over the weekend.
Also debuting was the Seawind 1190 Sport, this exciting sailing cat has all the comfort of the well known Seawind 1160 but with many features to improve her performance. These include dagger boards and dagger rudders to improve windward performance and decrease draft, a taller rig, square top mainsail, synthetic rigging and carbon used strategically throughout. For the second year the Seawind 1260 made an appearance, her new cockpit layout still impressing everyone who stepped aboard.
After winning two major multihull regattas in Australia and traveling over 4000km behind a car, the award winning Corsair 760 trailerable trimaran was turning heads throughout the show. She had a lot of interested by those who stepped on board and is available for test sail for the next couple of weeks in Brisbane.
As always it was a great show, with plenty happening on and off the water. Thanks to everyone who came down, said ‘Hi’ and had a look at the boats. There is only a couple of months until the Sydney International Boat Show and we hope to see you there.
